Cartography of the Cave

In this work, the cave is not a chamber of stone but a mapped condition of consciousness. Referencing Allegory of the Cave from Plato’s Republic, the drawing reimagines philosophy as terrain—measured, cross-hatched, and contested. Architectural lines cut across an AI-rendered dreamscape, as if reason itself were trying to stabilize the unstable. The red nucleus at the center pulses like a captive sun: fire, eye, wound, or awakening.

Chains become vectors. Shadows become contour lines. The blue edges trace the threshold where illusion leaks into awareness. Absence is carefully plotted—white space as exile, as the light that refuses to be fully diagrammed.

Concept:

The work feels abstract, yet it speaks about power, confinement, and awareness. It becomes a map of the inner world — showing how we can feel trapped by what we see, and how difficult, but possible, it is to move toward understanding.
